Restaurant Review: Jackson

For those of you who have not been to Jackson, MS (my birthplace), I declare you are missing out. Though it certainly feels like a small town, there are all sorts of cute places to shop and eat. My favorite little eatery that I constantly crave, is Bon Ami.

Their crawfish penne is my absolutely favorite thing on the menu and something that I crave! Thankfully, I was able to satisfy my craving while I was in Jackson earlier this week. Here are a few cute photos I took during our delicious dining experience:

Restaurant Review: Los Angeles

WP24, Wolfgang Puck's restaurant on the 24th floor of the Ritz Carlton LA LIVE in downtown Los Angeles, serves up a one-of-a-kind experience!

A girlfriend and I enjoyed an incredible meal there last time the two of us were in LA. I ordered the "Angry" 2 pound Maine lobster and cannot say enough good things about it. Though the presentation was a little intimidating, that did not stop me from diving in and thoroughly enjoying myself!! The flavors were incredible and have since left me with an unbelievable craving for more! 

Next time you are in LA, be sure and stop by if not for the delicious food, but for the incredible views of downtown LA.

Yummy Little Cocktail

I went to a friend's goodbye party a few months ago and had the yummiest little cocktail. I cannot wait to serve it at the next shindig at our house. It's super easy to make:

Start with a beautiful carafe or pitcher

2 parts champagne

1 1/2 parts St. Germaine

2 parts club soda

Serve with ice and lemon or line

Restaurant Review: Auburn, CA

Last May, while I was traveling across the state of California, I booked a group of business partners to dine at Latitudes in Auburn, California. Situated directly across from the small town courthouse in the center of town, this charming old home has been converted by the owner and her chef husband into a charming and fascinating dining experience. 

Though their standard dinner menu sounds delicious, we were lucky to enjoy one of their monthly specials where they pick two latitudinal coordinates and cook food found in that region. For instance when we visited in May, all the cuisine was African. It was absolutely incredible and made for a wonderful dining experience especially after a week on the road with other the restaurants serving the same chicken, fish and steak entrees. 

If I am ever back in Auburn or passing nearby, I will absolutely be going back to this establishment again! Cool concept and incredible food!

Trailer Treats

One of the many things Austin has going for it, is all the trailer eateries that have popped up all over the city.  Now that it is finally cooling down a little, it is fun to enjoy all the incredible food these little places have to offer.

 One of my favorites is Odd Duck. Their food booth at ACL was divine!


I am thinking of starting a little dinner party group that travels to a new travel ever so often. This is one of the next ones I want to try. I hear it's absolutely delicious!

What better way to kick off our little supper club than by attending Austin's Gypsy Picnic this weekend at Auditorium Shores where all these yummy trailer eateries will gather in one spot for a perfect Saturday of sampling!! If you are in Austin this weekend, be sure to attend:

Restaurant Review: Chicago

Every year when I am in Chicago for work at Lollapalooza, it is always a treat for me to eat at one of my favorite little places in the city: Eleven City Diner!

Over the past five years, I have gotten to know the owner Brad and can honestly say I have never had a single meal that is anything less than absolutely delicious! Our favorites are

the Audri

the French Dip

the Eleven City French Toast

the Baked mac and cheese (and I am one tough critic when it comes to mac & cheese!)

Milkshakes are divine

Bloody Marys are oh so good!

The menu is incredible, the service outstanding, and the charm of this Chicago diner is unmistakable. Next time you are in the the Windy City, be sure to stop on in!! I will be craving it for the next year...Have a great weekend!

Restaurant Review: St. Louis

I am excited to be heading to St Louis this weekend for a family wedding. It will be a fun time to celebrate such a special occasion and also a fun time with my husband's family. When we were in St Louis a few months ago, we ate at one of the yummiest French restaurants. I am secretly hoping that we might be able to pay this little establishment another visit while we are there.

Brasserie by Niche is a quaint yet bustling, authentic French restaurant. Our food was delicious and service impeccable. Though it took them a while to seat us even though we had a reservation, they all but made up for it with several flutes of champagne. We splurged and probably sampled close to the entire menu. Here are a few things that you must try if you are ever lucky enough to dine here:

'Cervelle de canut.' Fresh cheese & herbs

Gougeres. Cheese puffs (ahhhhhhhmazing!)

Wild burgundy escargot herbs, garlic & butter

Steak Tartare (DO NOT MISS THIS DISH!)

Restaurant Review: NYC

A few months ago when my Mom and I went to visit my sister in NYC, we dined at Mario Batali's restaurant, Babbo. It was delicious to say the least!

Next time you are in the Big Apple, I highly recommend a visit. Here are some of the menu items that we taste tested and absolutely loved:

Grilled Octopus with “Borlotti Marinati” and Spicy Limoncello Vinaigrette

Baby WildArugula with Parmigiano and Aceto Manodori

Gnocchi with Braised Oxtail

Chianti Stained Pappardelle with Wild Boar Ragu

Spaghettini with Spicy Budding Chives and a One Pound Lobster

If your mouth isn't watering yet then shame on you! :)

Restaurant Recommendation: Nashville

Two weeks ago when I was in Nashville for business, I took a group of sponsors to dine at the Watermark Restaurant. Though having never been to Nashville before, I knew the reputation of this establishment was excellent.

The wine and beer from the local brewery were very memorable while the food struck just the perfect note. The favorite dishes of the night had to be

roasted beet salad

speck, beet chips, pea shoots, chevre, apple cider vinaigrette

barbeque white shrimp

crispy grit dumplings, celery root, black radish remoulade

(the celery root was by far the best flavor while the grit dumplings fell flat)

wood grilled beef filet

creamed leeks, pommes duchesse, green peppercorn sauce

Henry Fudge wood grilled pork loin 29.

rutabaga and Fuji apple gratin, swiss chard, spiced apple butter

Given the cool interior design, the great flow of the bar and the good cuisine, I would happily recommend this place to anyone traveling to Nashville. Located in the Gulch area of town, one can really enjoy several local bars after dinner the best of which is right next door, the Wine Loft. Don't forget to spread the word with your friends!
