Pearls Galore

Pearls are glamourous, sexy yet always so classy. That's why I absolutely love these looks:
I love the way the different Rihanna mixed size strands are mixed together to create a very dramatic look! Juxtaposed to her red lips and sleek black suit, she looks dramatic and stunning. Here's another successful example of layering:
This next mixture is beautiful because of the mixture of size pearls but also the black vs white creates a very lovely piece.
And I absolutely love the big beautiful broach incorporated into this necklace. Tres glam!!
A girl can never have too many pearls!! Enjoy and accessorize!!

A Little Ways to Go

Though we have made incredible progress on our home office, I still have a few things I'm keeping me eyes peeled for. Most of these are out of my price range but I'm using them for the concept that I hope to replicate for less:
I'm treating this like a big game to see how cheaply I can get exactly what I want. Here goes nothing...

Heaven

Today, I stumbled across the most gorgeous place on earth: Musha Cay! I was immediately mesmerized by the colors of the water, the white sand and the luxurious accommodations the island boasts. In fact, I have had the window open all morning on my desktop so I can listen to the waves and sounds of the water played on their website (my coworker just told me that she's afraid if I go there, Mr "would become a parrot farmer and I would make jewelry from local beads and she might never see me again" haha! It does look like paradise.)
I mean a sunset like that is tough to beat!
On a whim, I decided to email the island and ask what the prices are. You will laugh when you read the note I received:

Thank you for your interest in Musha Cay. The island is available for your dates.

The island is reserved for one party at a time. The cost for up to 12 guests is $37,500 nightly, and for each guest from 13 to 18 guests it goes up in $1500 increments. From 19 to 24 guests the cost goes up in $1,000 increments.

The island can be rented for 5 nights or more and is a magical getaway, encompassing 11 islands and 40 beaches.

I have attached a factsheet, please let me know if we can provide more information to you, or visit www.mushacay.com for more photos, videos, and information.

Best Regards,

Needless to say, I do not think I will be visiting anytime soon. But a girl can dream...Happy Friday!!

Wedding Wednesday: My Special Day

Monday the 20th was our 2nd wedding anniversary! It has hard to believe how quickly it flew by. Though I absolutely loved all the elements of our wedding, I still dream about my wedding dress all the time. Here are some of my favorite moments from my special day in my dream dress:
Thanks Ramona Keveza for designing the perfect gown for my special day! But mostly, thanks to my sweet hubby for making my special day happen :) XOXO

Bummer

I am disappointed in a recent discovery. I came home last night to the recent issue of Home Decorators only to discover a new product called the "Parsons Desk." Yes, the exact name and style as the desk I just purchased from West Elm. Can you tell a difference?
That's right! The only difference I can see is that Home Decorators added an extra drawer. I mean, they didn't even change the name!

What makes me more frustrated is that the desk from Home Decorators is $129 vs the $299 at West Elm. Ugh! Savings missed :( I'm crushed!

Hopefully I will save one of you from making the exact same mistake. Happy Tuesday

Desk Chair for Cheaper

I am super excited that I found the exact same desk chair for our new home study for a cheaper price!! I have had my eye on this one from West Elm for several months but thought it was so silly to pay $399 for a chair

SO, I was elated when I discovered this chair at Lamps Plus for $199!
I'm keeping my eyes peeled for more deals so I can finish this room under budget! More to come...Happy Happy Saturday!!

Magnificent Moroccan Treasures

Look at all these magnificent Moroccan treasures that Kyle Knight from Knight Moves posted! The two that I am yearning to implement into our new office are this leather pouf:
And these fun tea glasses
Great finds! Thanks for sharing :)

Wedding Wednesday: C'est Parfait!

I am pretty much obsessed with everything FRENCH so I swooned when I saw this gorgeous wedding posted by Habitually Chic:
I also love the bride's very chic headpiece:
The setting is just idyllic in this elegant garden! Look at how beautiful this long table is:
While the white candelabras are elaborate, the rest of the table decor is very sweet and simple: The ferns in the stumps instead of vases provide color and a natural elegance.
I also love the gentility of the bride's bouquet and love the subtle hints of brown from the feathers and the butterfly wings. Well done!
C'est parfait!!!

IKEA vs. Crate and Barrel

Yesterday I had to eat my salad with a spoon because there were no forks anywhere on our entire floor. So, after I whined a lot and finally just gave up, I decided it was time to outfit the kitchen at our new office with flatware, some dinnerware, a few serving trays and glasses so we'll be more green.

I priced out exactly what I needed at IKEA then realized that I could only order one of the items online, so I skipped over to Crate and Barrel to see what the same thing would be at their store. I was shocked to discover that the same order at C&B was over $500 more. Whoa!

Here is what I bought:

2 large serving bowls, 10 small cereal bowls
2 large serving platters

1 small serving tray
20 dinner plates
20 glasses
8 place settings of this matching flatware
Can you tell which store I purchased these from? Here's a hint, these delightful goodies will be stocking our office come 7-10 business days... :)

As It Stands

As it stands right now, this is a snapshot of our new study:
Clearly I have a ways to go in terms of color and new knick knacks but it truly is coming along. As you can see from my previous posts, design is an ever evolving process:

Here are the elements that make up this room:

New paint job thanks to Martha Stewart's Bedford Gray
Parsons Desk from West Elm
Two armless club chairs from Crate and Barrel. I purchased these from a friend at a yard sale but they are in need of a little recovering.
Bar from Tuesday Morning (without the doors on it at this point)
Rug from Tuesday Morning
We are super excited with the progress we've made. More additions to come!!
