Beat Me to the Punch
A few months ago, I mentioned a company called Flor. Well, it looks like Kim from Desire to Inspire gave it a shot and is a huge fan! CLICK HERE to read what she said and see pictures of her room...

Artist Spotlight: Howell Conant
Since I am in the midst of planning our summer trip through the South of France, I have been reading lots and thinking often about Monaco. One of my favorite photographs is the one of Grace Kelly taken by Howell Conant where she is peering from behind the white curtiains:
Though not all of his pictures on his lovely subject graced the cover of Vanity Fair, there are a few others that I think are just divine. Take a look:

I absolutely LOVE this one!!

Given that Prince Albert is about to be married, I'm sure the media circus surrounding the second royal wedding of 2011 will begin any day now. Expect to hear a lot about Monaco in the coming weeks...

Another Big Move
I apologize that I have been such a crummy blogger lately...
I swore when we moved into our new house last year that "I was done moving." Famous last words! Our company moved into a new space last week and though it was only five blocks from where we were, I think this is by far the hardest move I have ever experienced.
For the last two weeks, I have shoved, carried, filed, organized, sorted and rearranged. It has been an exhausting experience but the final product is finally starting to shine through:

I hate that my blog has suffered but thanks for hanging in there and being patient with me :)
More coming soon!
Wedding Wednesday: Veils
I love veils! Perhaps it was because when I tried on the first wedding dress in the shop, I felt pretty but it wasn't until they put the veil on with the dress that my stomach flipped and I really felt like a bride! A veil can really dictate the look and feel of the wedding even more so than the dress in my opinion. Here are a few shots of veils that I've compiled from various photographers:

Don't these photos just make you want to envelope yourself in tulle? Happy Hump Day!!

Working My Way Up
I'm simultaneously working on our new Living Room. Here is a look I am pulling a few ideas from:

We started by giving the room a fresh coat of paint in a soft gray:

Then we bought this couch during an incredible sale at Macy's:

Now I'm starting at the bottom and am working my way up. I am on the hunt for a good rug. Oh I've found a million I love, it's finding one at a bargain price that's the hard part. Here are a few ideas I am looking at/searching for:

Let the search continue...

Study Design Progression
I have made some big headway in our home study over the last week or so thanks to an incredible sale at Tuesday Morning! I was really lucky to find this rug on sale (it is exactly the navy I had been looking for). The two armless club chairs I found at a garage sale and can't wait to slap some fun orange fabric on them.
The bar was perhaps the biggest surprise...as I've said, I was planning to convert an old antique china cabinet into the bar but after an astronomical quote of over $650, I decided craiglist might be best place for it. While I was at Tuesday Morning picking up the rug, I stumbled across this bar for under $300. Wahoo!! It has everything we need to make our study a little more charming and entertaining.
More to come...Happy Thursday!!

Wedding Wednesday: Power
I stumbled across some portraits yesterday that I found very beautiful. The settings are a little unusual which is perhaps what makes them so fascinating and full of character. Who would have thought that our Power Plant here in Austin would serve as such a beautiful backdrop for a bridal portrait?

Or that these power lines could provide such an interesting element to this photograph?

or how darling this couple could look playfully posed in front of a garage?

Somehow these more industrial settings compliment the pretty elegance of these brides and couples in a way that's really perfect. Though a shot like this wouldn't have fit into the portfolio from my wedding day, I think they are really charming. Have a good one!
